3M.D. Professor, Beylükdüzü Medicana Hospital, İstanbul/TURKEY Purpose: To evaluate of diagnostic value of short-wavelength perimetry (SWAP) in early diagnosis of glaucoma.
Material and Methods: 24 primary open angle (POAG) patients and 27 ocular hypertension (OHT) patients who followed by Glaucoma department of our hospital were included in this study. 25 patients who referenced our hospital and had no ocular pathology were included in this study as a control group. Standart automated perimetry test with 30-2 treshold and SWAP were performed for all patients. The mean deviation (MD) values, pattern standard deviation (PSD) values and glaucoma hemifield test (GHT) result from SWAP were compared between POAG, OHT and normal control groups.
Results: 54 eyes of 27 OHT patients, 39 eyes of 24 patients and 50 eyes of 25 normal subjects, total 143 eyes of 76 patients were included in this study. There was a significant difference in mean MD values from SWAP tests between groups (between POAG and OHT p=0.041, between OHT and control group p<0.001 and between POAG and control group p<0.001). There was no difference in PSD values from SWAP tests between POAG and OHT (p=0.06) but there was a significant difference between OHT and control group (p=0.02) and POAG and control group (p<0.001).
Conclusıon: According to results, SWAP test seemed useful methods to distinguish OHT from POAG.
