Revision of Filtrating Blebs with Needling Procedure
Prof. Dr., İzmir Katip Çelebi Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi, Göz Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı, İzmir - TÜRKİYE
Needle revision of filtering blebs is a useful adjunct in glaucoma practice in the presence of a failed or failing bleb. The procedure can
be performed with various techniques, and aims to drain aqueous humor through the original ostium into the subconjunctival space.
It has fairly good results; several factors including age and race of the patient, phacic status, history of previous ocular surgery, use
of antimetabolites in the initial surgery and bleb morphology are important on the outcome. Bleb needle revision is a safe and simple
procedure that can regulate intraocular pressure without leading to further loss of healthy conjunctival surface.
