Materials and Methods: One hundred-eighty eyes of 90 healthy individuals were recruited in the study. Superior temporal quadrant in the right eyes and superior nasal quadrant in the left eye were chosen as a first quadrant. The other quadrants were determined clockwise direction as 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quadrant, respectively. In all subject of anterior chamber angle parameters were evaluated with clinical gonioscopic examination (using the Shaffer system) and Pentacam device. The correlation between the two methods were evaluated in the four quadrants.
Results: There was statistically significant (p<0.001) but weak correlation between the clinical gonioscopic examination and Pentacam measurements (1st quadrant r=0.312, 2nd quadrant r=0.357, 3rd quadrant r=411, and 4th quadrant r=0.322). There was significant (p<0.001) and moderately correlation between average value of the four quadrants of gonioscopic measurement and anterior chamber depth, anterior chamber volume (r=0.485, r=0.524).
Conclusion: Pentacam may a good screening test for evaluation of the anterior chamber angle. However, the data that is obtained before any surgery on eye should be supported with gonioscopic examination.
