In most instances such as the degree of cataract opacity, some associating causes like intravitreal haemorhages or ocular traumas, retinal function cannot be clinically assessed. Both pattern visual evoked potentials (PVEP) and flash visual evoked potentials (FVEP) were studied on so far as to evaluate the visual prognosis of cataract extraction. In FVEP studies, usually the values of different waveforms were investigated. In PVEP studies, the competences of the PVEP responses to different check sizes to estimate postoperative visual acuities were studied. We reviewed the literature on this subject and presented our clinical experiences. Keywords : Cataract, visual evoked poteentials
