Repairment of Total Iris Defection and Aphakia Which Occured After Perforating Ocular Trauma Through Implanting Aniridia Intraocular Lens

Dr. 25 years old male patient attempted to our clinic with a complaint of vision decrased in the left eye on 30.06.2005. In his history, his left eye had been injured with fish hook at 07.06.2005. Then corneal primer suturation had been done , local goverment hospital, in his left eye. On eye examination; in his right eye was normal and visual acuity was 10/10. Eye external structure and eye movement were normal in his left eye. Corneal full thickness wound, which had been closed with 10/0 nylon suture, on 8 o’clock of cornea, traumatic anridia(almost totally), swollen lens, traumatic cataract within the left eye in the slitlamp examination. Left eye’s retina could not be visualized. According to the ocular ultrasonograhy; retinal detachment and intraocular hemorrhage were seen in left eye. Left eye visual acuity was P+/P+. After that lens aspiration, pars plana vitrectomy, endolaser fotocoagulation and silicon oil were enjected in first step. After 6 month, his left eye’s retina was normal,silicon oil remove and aniridia IOL was implanted for aphakia and aniridi. Artificial aniridia IOL useful for aphakia and traumatic aniridi repairment.
